This workshop consists of two individual sessions.

In the past two years Marta has offered few Pranayama workshop. Here is how you should go about it, to learn things which you havent learned yet :

If you have previously attended the Freedom of Breath Workshop and you’d like to get more technical guidance; you are encouraged to join the Art Of Breathing (Session 1).

If you have attended the Abdominal Manupulations Workshop (part of the Strenght of Yoga series), then the session 2 Workshop - Pranayama 101 will be a natural continuation of what you have already learned.

In any case, you are most welcome to join both sessions, as each workshop is unique based on the students who join it.

If you have NEVER practiced pranayama in the tradition of Kaivalayadam Institute, we highly encourage you to join both sessions. Joining the entire workshop of two sessions will give you a deep insight on how to work with your body and with the breath.

The Art of Breathing (Session 1) - November 23rd, 4pm

The art of Breathing is a technical workshop which teaches you how to use your diaphragm. It takes a big deal for majority of practitioners to learn how to release their abdomen and allow a proper functioning of respiratory muscles. In the meantime - a soft and tender belly is a pre requisite for any of breathing practices including Nauli, Uddiyana , and Agni Sara Kriya. During this workshop we will explore various self massage, release and movement techniques eventually evelving towards the ability of full abdominal suction known as UDDIYANA KRIYA and progressively to lengthening of the capacity of the breath. More seasoned practitioners will get a chance to explore techniques of NAULI KRIYA which is the churning of the abdomen.

Pranayama 101 (Session 2) - November 30th, 4pm

Pranayama is a set of ancient breathing techniques used since millennia’s by practitioners of yoga mostly to improve their health and restore their mind. Being done on the edge between the internal and external; techniques of pranayama, if done correctly, teach us how to shift our attention from gross (physical) to subtle (spiritual) and facilitate a development of a gradual transition towards a more subtle and sensible practice.

During this workshop you will become familiar with some of the most basic pranayama techniques as mentioned in hatha Pradipika and Geranda Samhita and as taught at Kaivalyadam institute in Lonavla, India. This class covers the most traditional and the most researched breathing techniques as taught at one of the most established yoga research institutes in India. All of these techniques have been researched and evaluated over the decades by some of the most renowned yoga scholars in India and in the western world. Learning these techniques will help you to establish a close relationship with daily breathing Sadhana.

Each session 120 minutes. Drop in: 108$, both sessions: 180$.

Both workshops are recommended to yoga and pranayama practitioners at all levels.
