Marta previously owned and conducted daily classes at Ashtanga Yoga Shala in Berlin since 2014, while John has a rich teaching background, having taught Ashtanga Mysore and various yoga styles starting in New Delhi (2012) and later also in Singapore - since 2016.
Together, they bring a wealth of experience, creating an inviting space where traditional Ashtanga Yoga meets contemporary practice, nurturing growth and community since their collaboration.
Meet The Team
Co Founder and Teacher
Marta is a co-founder of Nilayam and dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher of Astanga Yoga. With over 20 years of experience on the mat, Marta's dedication to her daily self-practice of asana and pranayama is truly inspiring.
Passionate about the holistic approach to wellness, Marta emphasises the importance of breathing practices, Ayurveda, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle alongside physical aspects of yoga. She firmly believes that these elements should always go hand in hand, creating a harmonious balance for overall well-being.
In her spare time, Marta delves into the study of Vedic mantras, seeking a deeper understanding of mind-body-soul connection. She understands that by exploring a wide range of practices that bridge the physical and metaphysical realms, we unlock the gateway to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Hatha Yoga Teacher
Mani started his yoga career at a very tender age, more than 25 years ago. Since the young age, he has participated in several yoga competitions, until he discovered that yoga is about self-discovery rather than competition. This realisation led him to deepen his knowledge at the prestigious Kaivalyadham institute in Lonavala, India, where he immersed himself in philosophy, anatomy, pranayama, kriyas, and meditation.
He firmly believes that yoga is for everyone, regardless of their age, ability, body types or background and he tries to make his classes inclusive and accessible to all. His goal as a teacher is to help students cultivate a deeper connection with their bodies, minds, and spirits, and to support them in their journey towards greater health and well-being.
